Amrut Pharma’s roots go back to a home industry venture by Vaidyaraj Ramchandra Joshi and Late Smt. Mai Ramchandra Joshi in the year 1938. They were well known practitioners in their time and were the inspiration for Dr.Sharad Joshi to carry on their good work. Dr. Sharad Joshi could foresee that Ayurveda would become a way of life again. Under his dynamic leadership and with his limitless dreams, Amrut Pharma became a popular brand. 
Dr.Joshi was a well heeled man with great vision. He held degrees in the Arts, the Sciences, Ayurveda and even law. A well rounded education shaped his world view and gave him the foresight to predict today’s huge demand for alternative medicine. He understood very early on, that people were looking for a safer alternative to allopathy and made it his life’s mission to spread the holistic remedies that traditional ayurveda offered. Armed with an immaculate education and a willingness to adopt modern technology to mass produce Ayurvedic products, he set out to build the trusted brand that Amrut today stands for.
In 1982, Amrut Pharma touched a new high. With a state-of-the-art plant built at Amrutnagar in Belgaum, Amrut was ready to take on the old with the new. Armed with traditional knowledge and the latest technology, the Ayurveda that Amrut Pharma practiced became more grounded. Regular audits and investments were done in keeping up to speed with modern day manufacturing practices.
He used the power of marketing to spread awareness about the brand. The products were potent enough to sell themselves, and backed with a strong advertising campaign Amrut soon became a household name in markets such as Kerala, Andhra and Maharashtra. An untimely demise robbed us of his pioneering spirit and visionary zeal. Quality, creativity, and aiming for perfection – these are the legacies that Dr Sharad Joshi left behind.
His legacy and vision is now carried forward by the next generation. Mr.Shailesh Joshi, his son, took over the reins of the business. Mr.Shailesh Joshi is well versed with the allopathic and ayurvedic disciplines. He has built a great team of experts in research, management and marketing, to champion the cause of Amrut. He has spearheaded the drive for innovation by adopting best practices, and has successfully introduced a suite of new products from the Amrut stable to match the lifestyle requirements of today’s world.
